My Deep Sky Rig, The John Glenn

The John Glenn, named after the first American to orbit our planet, is capable of viewing deep sky objects and bring the universe to life. The refractor, ZWO equipment, and Sky-Watcher EQ Mount work as a team to produce images from out of the world.

My Deep Sky Imaging Gear

Astrotech Refractor AT65Q

The Astro-Tech AT65Q is a small but powerful telescope made for wide-field astrophotography. Its design keeps stars sharp all the way to the edges of the image, making it perfect for capturing big, beautiful views of galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters.

ZWO ASI533mc Pro

The ZWO ASI533MC Pro is a astronomy camera designed for capturing deep‑sky images. Its square sensor delivers clean, low‑noise photos, making it great for galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters.

Sky-Watcher EQ-AL55i Pro

The Sky-Watcher EQ-AL55i Pro is a equatorial mount designed for both visual observing and astrophotography. With built-in WiFi and GoTo technology, it can automatically track over 42,000 objects in the night sky, making it easy to follow planets, galaxies, and nebulae while keeping them centered in view.

ZWO ASIAIR Mini

The ZWO ASIAIR Mini is a compact controller that brings all my gear together. Working alongside my Astro-Tech AT65Q refractor, ZWO ASI533MC Pro camera, and Sky-Watcher EQ-AL55i Pro mount, it handles guiding, imaging, and mount control wirelessly from my tablet. This means I can capture deep‑sky objects right from my sidewalk with precision tracking.
